shunned all the way. That's okay. None of my family were ever Jaydubs.

Welcome. When you start thinking about all the dire apocalyptic stuff that the WTS has been spewing now for 100+ years and put it in real world terms, it all starts to break down and seem ridiculous, and a sick thing to look forward to.

Is this the cong-only edition that has this?
It was 'yes it's weird, you'd have to be a JW to understand' articles like this one that made offering the magazines d2d SO FREAKING UNCOMFORTABLE. Didn't other JWs see that? If so, they sure didn't let on.

I just believe that this world has an end. I read many varying opinions on what the end will be like,
I'd be interested to know what you think "the world" is, and how it will meet its end.

The truth just ain't the same any more.
by Julia Orwell inthis has been the sentiment of a few i know who have been full jws for decades.
they say the love is not there like it used to be, and it's become less personal.. anyone heard similar comments from oldies?.
we know the 'truth' ain't the truth in the first place, but i have a feeling there may be a lot of older ones hanging on just because it's all they've ever known, and it the alternative, that there is no paradise around the corner like they've always been taught us unthinkable..

When i hopped on the JW nowhere train in 1992, quick builds were still come-one-come-all, congregation get-togethers happened with relative frequency, there was still a little of that old-style friendly JWism left. By the time I left in 2002, seemed like so much of that was fading fast. I can't even imagine what it's like now.

unknowing JW: "mr. speaker! mr. speaker! This business about the Watchtower supporting Hitler, obvious nonsense! Truly shocking! But, I am curious. What exactly was said by these vile apostates, to whom, and in what context? What historical documents were involved in this blatantly satanic attempt to discredit our loving theocratic organization? I'd like to know, so that if an occasion where I would need to do so arises, I can fully defend the truth against these slanderers."
mr. convention speaker: "oh ho ho ho ho. HO HO HO HO!!!!! You don't need to know ANY of the details. Funny that you would even ASK for them. YOU aren't an apostate, are you? What's your name son, what congregation do you attend?"

"If you put ANY human before Christ then we're not worthy of him"
Hmm let's count how many times Matthew 24:45 is cited or quoted in WTS literature vs. John 3:16.

missing the JWD glory days
by fresh prince of ohio indon't get me wrong, this forum currently has plenty of interesting discussions and posters, but, for those of you who weren't on the old jwd board in the early-to-mid-00s, man...i'm sorry but you really missed out on the glory years of this forum.
it was really a special, unique place then.
again, not dissing the current, but, that huge exciting wave of ex-jw internet activity that occurred in the early part of this century seems to have leveled off.

One thing you can count on is that Matthew 24:45 will continue to reign supreme as the most cited scripture in WTS publications.
